Staying sane...and productive!

Writer: JAXFITJAXFIT

If you're anything like me you've had your struggles staying productive during quarantine, after all we are people who rely on schedules and routines like a child relies on training wheels the first time they make an attempt to conquer that shiny bike that’s been stored away in their garage since their last birthday.

So how does someone stay productive and declutter their minds during a time where schedules and routines are obsolete. I admittedly have always been horrible at winging things. I always start the day with good intentions but quickly find myself distracted and on my 4th episode of the Office before I’ve completed the simplest of task. Through trial and error, I’ve finally found a way to declutter my mind and day while staying productive. Yes, a to do list, but not your traditional list. You’ll be surprised that there’s not trash being taken out, dishes being washed, or animals (maybe even kids) being bathed on this list.

The simpler the list the more productive you’ll be. Don’t allow yourself to clutter your list with small objectives that don’t really push you towards growth or productivity. My list contains three items. 1) The time I want to start my day. 2) My main task for the day. This task is the “one thing” I need accomplish or at the very least make progress on today in order to push myself in the direction I desire. 3) Spend a few minutes networking. Either from a professional standpoint or social purpose. Continuing to ask yourself who in my circle could use a quick message or inspirational text right about now.

Your list may not be the exact same as mine, but I do believe if you keep your list short and effective, you’ll experience more productive days. You’ll soon be able to sit down on the couch in the evening with a sense of accomplishment rather than guilt for not accomplishing anything of meaning throughout the course of the day.
